Winner – Cruisin’

I grabbed this injection while cruise through the Ionian ocean . It was my first twenty-four hour period on the cruise ship and the last day of the competition . I knew I would be able to get something off the side of the ship . But I got incredibly golden when these two spent the break of day on their deck of cards . The Sunday was warm , the zephyr was smart , and this picture is my favorite of the trip so far . To top it all off I made two great novel friends ! F5 , ISO 100 , Shutter Speed 1/125

Spinnaker Tower

The painting is a shot down the step in one of the leg of the Spinnaker Tower , a local tourer attraction in my hometown ( Portsmouth , UK ) . There ’s a 100 m high chalk floor in the tugboat as well , but I found this picture with the triangular staircase more interesting . I ’ve arrange with the managment next week to get a picture from below the safety grill that obscure some of the picture , so if you are interested in that , watch out for it on my Flickr ( there will also be a duo of shot from the glass floor there soon ) . This was taken using an EOS 550D with the kit 18 - 55 mm lens . The camera was mostly on auto for this one , but I am learn how to make best use of the manual preferences .

TGI Friday’s, It Ain’t

My female parent and I have a minor custom every friday to have dejeuner at a restaurant . unremarkably it ’s Applebee ’s or TGI Friday ’s but , wanting to take a photo for the challenge , I suggested we dine at the Kingdom Tower . So , we went up to the observation bridge deck , looked around for our house , demand some photos with our earphone and , stealthily , I conquer a few photos with my photographic camera . ( Photography with regular camera is not allowed , for security department reasons , I believe . ) Then we went down to the restaurant at the 77th base and had a rather fancy ( but very , very respectable , and not too expensive ) dinner party . And that was that . photographic camera : Nex-5 , with the 18 - 55 millimeter at 18 mm . Aperture set at f3.5 , but other circumstance were auto . delete in WL Photo Gallery ( I know ) . I shirk around with Brightness and Co. and applied a red filter to get free of smutty reflection . Besides , the Photo look advantageously in black and white . Oh , one more thing . I had bought the camera ages ago specifically to participate in Gizmodo ’s shooting challenges ; but this is the first one I enter in . wish well me circumstances .

Garibaldi Globe

I had hiked up to Garibaldi Lake , 18 km round trip for our geography class along with 40 - 50 other students . I knew it was going to be beautiful scene so I compact up my radio control glider that bear a camera on - gameboard to take some photo . I fly up very gamy , this was all line of sight , for this shot there was a immense reservoir of cosmetic surgery that pull my planing machine up really really high until it was just a pinch so I had to plunge down , directly down to retrieve proper ALT and visual . Those islands you see there are called “ Battle Ship Island ” reasons I do n’t know , correctly next to them are these minor cabin / hut that s were we had stop and rested and also where I flew from . Camera GoPro 1080HD Hero , Exposure – 1/3000 , Aperture – f/3.6 , Focal Length 5 millimetre , ISO 100

Conked

Our six calendar month old Gavin sleeping in his playpen . This was in austere line to the nighttime before when he keep us up pass midnight holler for two hours . We some how miss putting him to log Z’s at his common 9:30pm time one-armed bandit , so he was up and cranky . This was the first meter that he in reality cried that long . The dark included raw diaper , bottle ( that he refuses to take ) and a 15 minute manner of walking outdoors around midnight . So when my married woman and I incur back from oeuvre today , grandma had just land up putting him to catnap . That ’s when I think of this week shoot challenge . Cab Company

This shaft was ask the evening of Saturday , June 26th at the Highline on the West side of Manhattan . The common is built on a an elevated train track used in the Early 1900s . It ’s a perfect spot to take a walk and savour the sundown . I had taken my camera with me to sprout the sunset and since we were on an elevated political platform , I thought it would be great time to try and grab an “ above ” shot that is required for this contest . Not all parts of the get up platform / caterpillar track allow visitors to walk up to the rails to look below because of landscape painting that is in the direction , and roped off . I in the end find out a spot where I was able to slant over , extend my arms and get a shot . as luck would have it , there was a traffic light about 30yrds away from my position , causing traffic to back up and this is why I caught 2 NYC cab in the shot . I blindly focused on one of the cabs by stretch my arms ( hold the camera with the grip of death ) , pointed to one of the cabs , then re - compose and took the guess . savor ! technical school info : Canon 5DII w/ 24 - 70 2.8L lens , shot in Manual mode , at f/3.5 , shutter at 1/80th , and ISO 400 .

Neuschwanstein Plunge

Just fetch Back from Germany and made this dead reckoning near Bavaria Germany . I was visiting the Neuschwanstein rook , the one Disney used as his inspiration for the Cinderella castle . I mark a bridge elbow room behind it up above that looked over this falls . Decided i had to go tick it out and knew it would be double-dyed for this challenge . Was using a Nikon D5000 with my 18 - 55 Lens . There our no Photoshop enhancements made to this , what you see is what you get !

I was looking for my shot in Baltimore ’s Inner harbour when I stopped into the erstwhile big businessman works , which has since close and turned into a Barnes and Noble . This is one of the old stack from the plant that used to provide power to the citizens of Baltimore , usefully re - resolve as a bookshelf . I shot this characterization from the second floor .
