TheMean Girlsalumis the daughter of Dina and Michael Lohan, who welcomed the actress into the world on July 2, 1986.
As Lindsay ascended to fame as a child star, her mom became her manager, and dad Michael, who initially worked on Wall Street, also entered the public eye as Lindsay’s father.
Michael and Dina separated when the actress was three, though they later reconciled. Dina filed for divorce in January 2005 and it was finalized in 2007.
Over the years, Lindsayhas opened upabout her parents' divorce. In 2020, she revealed playing twins inThe Parent Trap(her breakthrough role at age 11) helped her deal with the separation of her own mom and dad.
“My parents were kind of separating at the time when this was all going on. And it made it a lot easier for me to play these characters that were figuring it out,” she said at a virtual reunion of the 1998 film. “I just felt so lucky and really blessed… Without this movie, I wouldn’t have gotten the acting bug.”

Dina and Michael wed in 1985, one year prior to Lindsay’s birth. They briefly separated in 1988, but later rekindled their relationship. Two decades later, however, their marriage — which was oftentimes tumultuous — ended in divorce in 2007.

Michael Lohan was formerly a commodities broker

Dina and Michael Lohan have both faced legal troubles
Michael made headlines for his legal troubles on several occasions. In the late 1980s, he faced jail time ina stock fraud caseand again in the late 1990s for violating his probation. In the years that followed, he was involved in along-running divorce battlewith Dina and has had an estranged relationship with Lindsay.
In 2010, he got engaged toformer reporter Kate Major. They wed in 2014 and later welcomed sons Landon and Logan together. In 2018, Katefiled for divorcejust over a month after she was arrested in a domestic violence dispute. In 2020,Michael was arrestedand charged for allegedly choking and harassing his estranged wife Kate. Thecharges were later dropped.
As of June 2022,court records showthat he resides near Houston, Texas.
Amid her reality show stints, Dina has also faced legal troubles. She was arrested following a vehicle collision in Long Island in January 2020. She laterpleaded not guiltyto driving while intoxicated (DWI) andsaw brief jail time in September 2021. (She was also charged for a September 2013 DWI in 2014, At the time, a Nassau County district court judge sentenced her to 100 hours of community service. Her driver’s license was also suspended for one year and she was fined $3,000.)
