Thor : Ragnarok’steaser trailer , while intelligibly focusing on the first part of the movie , had a lot of great and important routine in it . A heap of them are related to the various cartoon strip connections this movie is pulling together to make one , big , delightful spectacle .
Everything here is based on surmise or things Marvel has released / allowed people to say . That said :

We do know that Thor does n’t push on Sakaar with Mjolnir , so either 1 ) the confrontation with Hela happen on Sakaar and she crushes it and forget Thor to get bolt down in the gladiatorial fights . Or 2)after the freehanded detonation , Thor briefly ends up in Hel , manages to get to either Earth or Sakaar , where Hela ruins Mjolnir . Then she presumably dumps him on Sakaar anyway .
Either way , things are not go cracking for Thor .
And while Hela ’s expression is hewing really intimately to the comics , Valkyrie ’s look here is very different . Her outfit in the comics is often black and silver , but is also more Asgardian - looking for . However , since this Valkyrie has been attend out on Sakaar for who acknowledge how long , this makes a sure amount of sense .
By the way , why is Valkyrie hang out on Sakaar ?
In what looks like a flashback , Valkyrie ( with Valkyries , plural form ) defend Hela .

I ’ll bet well money that this is from Thor and ship’s company getting off Sakaar in the Grandmaster ’s ship . I really do appreciate that everything we ’ve seen of Sakaar looks and feels like it dwell the same plaza as Guardians of the Galaxy . Not that anything ’s identical , but that the technology vogue and the same colors ( oh give thanks god , colour ) permeate both .
Say hello to Skurge ( Karl Urban ) . Comics Skurge is also called “ The public executioner ” and is a baddie of Thor ’s . He ’s also a villain that fall in love with Enchantress and spend a middling amount of sentence doing her and Loki ’s bidding . Of course , Skurge in the comic strip also helped ( in what Chris Sims called thebest redemption plot ) various wedge get out Hela ’s forces during a commission to Hel by holding a bridge long enough for them to frustrate . The former antagonist - turned - compatriot is a good beat for this movie to include . Taking that tale and turning it into Skurge confine back the Grandmaster’s / Hela ’s forces as Thor escapes Sakaar would n’t be the worst thing in the macrocosm .
In other news , yeah , Skurge ’s look is also very much the right way out of the comics .
That this shot take place right after the one earlier in the teaser , but that Hela now has her helmet . I think he ’s working with Hela , though , have that he pops up as a guest to watch Thor fight on Sakaar subsequently .
