Last night ’s episode , “ Room Service , ” was all about transformations . Alex and Iris became vampires for very different reasons , and unsurprisingly the transition into their respective new lives are also very different . Meanwhile one of the show ’s best grapheme finally become a backstory – and it ’s wonderful .

In the Alex plotline , American Horror Story : Hotel offer nutrient for thought for all the anti - vaxxers out there : if you do n’t immunise your kid , he might get measles . If your tiddler gets rubeola , he might get so sick he almost dies . If your kid almost decease , his pediatrician – who , as it just so happens , recently became a lamia – might save his life by injecting him with her blood . Oh sure , your kid will then amazingly , miraculously recover … but as soon as you take him home , he ’ll rip out your throat . Then , he ’ll merrily head to school and cut off his schoolroom ’s Halloween political party by turning all his piddling friends into vampires , too .
“ Drink it , it will make you palpate amazing ! ”
To put it gently … things get mussy . Alex did n’t really call up that through , did she ? But she ’s not thinking of anything besides her son . Her new , Countess - appoint role as governess for the Hotel Cortez ’s junior flock have in mind she ’ll have all the time in the world to spend with him . But does it also mean she ’ll have to start hunt , rather than getting her fix from the infirmary ’s blood supplying ? And what will John say when he sees her lurking in the hotel halls ?
John , who hog all the concealment time last hebdomad palling around with Jeffrey Dahmer and society , does n’t do much this calendar week except get fired from the police section ( which , come on , we all saw coming ) and addict up with skeevy Sally ( ditto mark ) . But it seems likely he ’ll keep hunting the 10 Commandments Killer on his own , and he may not even have to leave the hotel to do it .
Far more interesting is what happens to Iris , who Donovan believes is the pure “ inside human being ” for Operation Revenge Against the Countess . “ I do n’t bonk if this is Oedipal or just freelance , ” Ramona muse , but she ’s all for the programme . Iris , who ’s in bad shape mentally and physically , pitch back to the Hotel Cortez , where Liz Taylor – who forthwith knows what ails her – offers up “ Liz ’s special somethin’ somethin’ ” ( a cocktail of pedigree and a dash of ternary sec ) and a well-disposed pinna .
Despite the fact that these two have been carbon monoxide - doer for years , they have n’t really buddied up until now . But Liz is the perfect somebody for Iris to talk to in good order now – there ’s nobody who better understands how disgusted she feels with herself . See , Liz was n’t always the glamorous fussy - dressing bartender we see today ; in a past life , she was a matrimonial father in Topeka who only feel alive while wear out a slip and a fur in hotel room on business organisation trips . One such tripper direct her to the Cortez , and into the Countess ’ charitable hands … and she never left . During this sequence , we learn two things : Liz is n’t merry . And more importantly , LIZ IS NOT A lamia . She ’s just a Hotel Cortez employee … who happens to be totally stoke on her personal exemption .
Iris is terrorize the Countess will find out she ’s been turned ( because she ’d fleetly get rid of her , Donovan , Ramona , and anyone else involved in the game against her ) . But other than a briefly alarming moment as the Countess is swanning out for the evening and remarks that she “ seems nervous , ” so far so skilful . And Iris is nervous . She ’s broadly a freaked - out person . But now that she ’s immortal , it ’s time to rise a spine and “ hold on taking whoreson , ” Liz advises her . It ’s a grotesque peppiness talking , conducted while the dyad cobble together some “ way Robert William Service ” for the odious , ostentatious hipster couple who ’ve just checked into the hotel .
But trolling rude foodies with African tea food disguised as poll is n’t enough . Iris needs to feast , but more importantly , these two client must die . Though it ’s SO SATISFYING to see Iris finally become the badass we all know she could be , it ’s a little disappointing that her first kills are such an exaggeratedly fearful pair . badly , they were the bad . If I could have reached through my screen and strangled them myself , I would have .
Presumably , she ’ll have to make some harder choices in the very close future tense . But for now , “ I never have intercourse how to subsist until I died , ” she tell Liz . And American Horror Story : Hotel just got a lot more exciting .
