Normally , peering at strangers through my 70x zoom lens makes me “ creepy ” or whatever . Not so for those using “ Displays of Affection , ” a concept equipment that lets drug user stare ( yearningly ? ) at pedestrians from above , andcaress them via touchscreen . Yeah .
The creepycam’screatorsays her hope is to “ succeed loved 1 and fulfill any craving for touching them without the risk of being disdain , disappointed or otherwise emotionally hurt . ” Or , you make out , sudden police intervention .
The machine itself — a blurred telephoto tv camera with an integrated touch screen , is n’t so foreign at all , in itself . But the demonstration video is nothing but disquieting — look at the mode the cleaning lady smiles at the end ! Sure , it ’s credibly just a commentary on the we ’re all so isolated from one another in the twenty-first century minute , but still ! Why is she so alone in that spartan flat ? Why does she keep due east - touching that significant woman and her kid ? Why do I kind of want one of these ? It ’s certainly more advanced than turning to Chatroulette — and I imagine that , to a certain ( and less genuine ) extent , this is just a more clamant version of what we do on Facebook every day .
