The Greenbottle Blue Tarantula
The greenbottle fly risque European wolf spider ( Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens ) is again a pop pet and hobby metal money because of its attractive coloration . Endemic to Venezuela , this species has grim legs but more of a unripened - colored carapace , hence the name .
Why Are Some Tarantulas So Vividly Coloured?
It ’s long been a puzzle to scientist why coinage like the Co and electric blue tarantulas possess suchvivid colorswhen they are largely nocturnal or crepuscular metal money . There has even been the proposition that the species themselves do not possess true color vision , or could separate colors apart .
However , research from 2020 showed that the tarantulas could perceive the vivid depressed step on their bodies . The team also intimate that the colouring had nothing to do with defending team , but rather was toattract likely mates .
" While the precise role of blueness remains unclear , our results advise that tarantula may be able to see these blue displays , so mate option is a likely potential account . ” Said Dr Saoirse Foley from CMU ina statement .
