Octopi and seagulls have an eat - or - be - eaten relationship ; either one could easily be the predator or quarry in the right situation . It ’s uncouth enough to see gulls snatching sea critter out of the sea , but these photos capture something a bit unlike : an devilfish pull out a seagull beneath the H2O and into its gullet .
A raspberry - watcher enamor these photos at Ogden Point Breakwater in Victoria , BC . That ’s a small version of the Giant Pacific Octopus , which can grow to be 100 pounds . Even at this size , however , it ’s strong enough to nab a struggle seagull . The birdwatcher ’s pulsing was to save the mug , but she promptly occupy these photos as her comfort award . It ’s a shame she did n’t get a video , but these photos are fascinating nonetheless . See more on theBirdFellow journal .
